Year | 2015 Media |Brass 作品灵感来自于21克的灵魂理论——Duncan医生测量了几位濒死的病人在死亡的刹那，身体都轻了21克，因此推断出这是灵魂的重量。 诚然灵魂本与科学无关，我以为这 21 克的灵魂试验更像一次极具想象力的行为艺术，启迪我们去感受、揣测、 思考物质以外的世界。 和肉身相比，21 克的灵魂轻的微不足道;但 21 并不是没有重量，当你将21克的东西扔出去，它仍然会沉沉地落到地上。 我的作品便是对这又轻又重的 21 克作进一步的诠释。每一件作品重21克，刚好能与气球形成平衡，悬浮在空间中缓缓游荡，它既无法飞上天堂，也不至坠入地狱，而是不轻不重地恰好停留在那里，也许就像我们的灵魂暂居在人间。 This work is inspired by Dr. Duncan MacDougall’s&nbsp; 21 Gram Theory. He conducted an experiment that he claimed the weight of soul is 21 grams: a patient was 21 grams lighter at the moment of death. Undoubtedly ,soul has nothing to do with science essentially. The 21 Gram Theory is more like an imaginative performance art that enlightens us to feel the world beyond material. Have you ever felt of the weight of 21 grams seriously？Compared to the weight of body, 21 grams of soul is much lighter. However, 21-gram weight is not weightless. It will fall heavily onto the ground as well. My work is a further interpretation of this weight of 21 grams, which is both light and heavy. Each piece of the brooch is 21 grams which is just balanced with a balloon. Thus the floating device is wandering slowly，that is neither too light to fly up to the sky nor too heavy to fall into the ground. In particular, I was full of fantasy and curiosity about those mysterious metal parts in different shapes and with unknown uses. When I was young, one of my subconscious actions even caused big trouble. I liked to insert my finger into pipes or holes of a seemingly-similar size, such as screw caps, old-style faucets, or other unidentified parts. I was fascinated by the lucky feel that my finger could go in and the risk that my finger might be stuck. Unfortunately, there was an incident that my finger indeed got stuck, for which I was sent to the hospital.  这个故事的结尾是: 一把银子熔化了浇铸下去,得到一枚戒指,一个十字架,一个圣母像,一枚四叶草吊坠,一个佛头......每个人都得到了想要的首饰，心满意足的走了。 There are two starting points of this story. A: Before the casting process in jewelry factory, a female worker is putting many wax copies of different jewelry on a thick wax stick, which looks like a tree with many branches, and each branch bears a piece of jewelry. And then, those branches of “wax tree” will be sprue, through which melted metal will go into the mold cavity during casting. The making of “wax tree” is a random process by workers. Jewelry of various shapes, brands, values and symbols are composed together unconsciously.
 B: Once I have read about this in Isaiah: a carpenter cut down a tree. Half of the wood he burned in the fire, over it he prepared his meal. And for the rest of the wood he made a god, an idol for worship. Therefore, this work tries to talk to the panic purchase of gold products by the Chinese Da'ma. In the gold factory, used gloves, uniforms, underclothes and carpets are all carefully collected by the workers for gold recycle. In their view, there is no difference between all the wastes in the manufacturing process and raw gold. Therefore, I would argue that the manufacturing wastes and gold products can be same regarded as the container of the materiality of gold. In this context, no matter in the gold factory or in the jewelry box, under strict security check or during waste recycle, made into ring or shaped into bracelet, with flower or lettering, all we have
